![]() ![]() using the term "shadows" plays on actual shadows, dark places, areas without light. So when you explain a Sub rogue as being a "master of shadows" and ambushes you out of nowhere and then as instantly can vanish out of sight, while also appearing behind you instantly when he was just 5+ feet away. Many other classes have multi-school abilities. Some Blance druids have multi-school abilities that do Arcane and Nature damage. They are actually tapping into arcane power (like mages) so it is just a component to the Balance druid kit for in-game reason. ![]() Kind of how like some of Balance druid's abilities utilize Arcane damage. HOWEVER, that is solely for an in-game reason. Shadow damage fits the flavor/theme of the spec so that's why they can dish out Shadow damage every now and then. Subtlety rogues using Shadow damage is purely an in-game mechanic. Ok so the flavor of Subtlety rogues are "mastery of shadows" and take the aspect of using Stealth, Vanish, perhaps even Smoke Cloud quite literally to fit into their kit. They are egomanicas, but not necessarily "evil". Maybe some have some form of natural affinity? But, what kind of shadow magic would that be? Like I said I can't think it is the same used by shadow priests, as rogues would become corrupt by using it (there is only one rogue I know about which followed the Twilight Hammer the blood elf in Hour of Twilight), but most rogues seem to be freelancer selling themselves for money, goods and maybe power (looking at the legendary questline in Cataclysm). So.from these statements it looks like rogue is using some shadow magic, or at least some form of it. Most rogues train their entire lives to learn how to walk in the shadows-subtlety rogues were born there. Some claim the art of subtlety looks like malevolent shadow magic-but no matter from where their power is derived, these rogues are capable of performing devastating assaults on their enemies, slipping away unharmed to strike again without detection. and ability to hide in plain sight are unrivaled.
